CYC
Club Awards and Recognition
CYC sponsors multiple
awards and recognition for members that have excelled either in racing
or in demonstrating qualities that are important to the club. The awards
are:
James Moriarty Corinthian Award:
"Sailboat racing is the one competitive sport which is totally
dependent upon the honesty of the individual participants...the skipper
and crews on the race course. The embodiment of the honesty has come
to be known as the Corinthian Spirit. It is at the heart of our sport,
it is its strength and its future."
The Corinthian award is made each year by the Sail Fleet Captain, and
presented to the racing fleet skipper who has most exemplified the Corinthian
Spirit.
Commodore's Award:
The Commodore's Award was developed and donated to the Carlyle Yacht
Club in 2003 by Kate and Jim Stephenson. The award is given annually
at the Holiday Party by the out-going Commodore. The purpose of the
Award is to recognize the individual that, in the eyes of the Commodore,
stood out as having done the most, over and above what might be expected,
to benefit the Carlyle Yacht Club during that year.
Boat of the Year Award:
Awarded to the boat that sailed most consistently throughout the year
during the CYC buoy racing series.
