Radio Controlled Sailing Fleet

Welcome to the Carlyle Yacht Club Radio Controlled Sailing Fleet. We are a part of the Carlyle Yacht Club(CYC) located in Carlyle, Illinois. We began in the spring of 2006 and became an AMYA sanctioned club in the Fall of 2006. We have sailors of all skill levels and encourage all who have an interest in sailing. Join us at any of our scheduled races and take the controls of one of our boats to get the "feel" of it. We sail primarily Soling One Meter boats but all RC boats are welcome.

The Boat:

The Soling One Meter is a low-cost, kit-base done-design class targeted toward getting new skippers involved in model yachting. The philosophy behind the Soling One Meter classis that a first-time skipper should be able to get into model yacht racing with a boat that has essentially no performance differences from a boat built by an expert. All aspects related to performance are intended to be restricted to what can be achieved by building the kit straight from the manufacturer's plans. Other aspects not affecting performance are not as strictly controlled.
Click here for more details about the The Soling One Meter.

Schedule:

Our goal is to race all year around on Wednesdays from 4 - 6 pm and on Sundays from 3 - 5 pm. Our winter schedule begins on November 1st and ends on March 31st and ourtimes go to 2 - 4 pm on both Wednesday and Sunday. We cancel racing if we have less than 3 sailors, the heat index is above 95 degrees or the temperature is below 50 degrees all per Accu Weather forecasts. All races are assumed to be held unless the RC Sailing Fleet Captain sends a broadcast email "canceling" that day's racing.

We have a Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter Series. The series dates are as follows:

Spring Series 3/1 - 3/31
Summer Series 6/1 - 8/31
Fall Series 9/1 - 11/30
Winter Series 12/1 - 2/28

Our club each year also plans to host a Region IV Championship Regatta the last weekend of April. This regatta is sponsored by The American Model Yacht Association (AMYA).
